Embroidery has always helped add that special touch and texture to projects, making them stand out amongst a crowd of mass-produced goods. But up until now they’ve been limited to small-scale designs because of the intensive labor involved. But thanks to the onset of digital printing, embroidered lettering is now coming to a wall near you.

The Wall Stitch Project is a collaboration between design duo YOY (Naoki Ono and Yuki Yamamoto) and design engineering company KSDL.

Using the latest modeling techniques and hi-res 3D printing, the team will create reproduce the texture of embroidery onto signage, which can then be fixed on various surfaces like concrete, glass and tile. The project just debuted at Tokyo Designers Week but the team is taking orders on their website.
