Stackable plates and saucers have always been popular because they save space and help create a tidy pantry. But mugs with handles are problematic because the handle offsets the mug above it, creating a precarious leaning tower.
Stepping in with a solution is the Stamug from Chiaki Murata’s design label Metaphys. By making subtle adjustments to the size and shape of the handle, the designers managed to create a clean, minimal shape that maintains its functionality but also allows for a stackable tower that doesn’t topple over.
